Quilt Camp QAL Week 10 - Snack Time
Oh man oh man has snack time been an ever occurring theme in my household lately! Between my pregnant self and a toddler we are snacking it up! The best part of camp was all the amazing, yummy, and different food!
This week join me a we take on curves with this sweet block! Ice cream is always on my mind so I though there was no other way to bring you curves!
Do NOT, I repeat do not let the curves intimidate you or keep you from finishing the block you can TOTALLY do it!
When it comes to curves just take your time on cutting and piecing. When cutting less pressure is better. The harder you push the harder it is to follow the curve.
When piecing slow and stead will get you through it. Try not to pull or tug as you work with the curves just line up a small portion of the curve, smooth out the fabric, feed it through, and then repeat!
This block is super nifty too because it also has some foundation paper piecing as well. Don't let this scare you either. YOU CAN DO IT!
Turn on the youtube tutorial and follow it step by step and pause as you go. Remember place the two fabric over the sew line, sew right on the line, fold back the paper and fabric to trim, then press back the second shape, and repeat.
If you want to skip ahead through the video to the parts you need here are some time stamps (these are also noted in the video notes). Templates 44 seconds, cutting curves 2:52, foundation paper piecing 8:50, sewing curves 10:36, foundation paper piecing 24:24.
As always if you have any questions please reach out to me and until next time happy quilting!
