Whooo! Let the block making begin! I am so excited for you to start with this block. Its focus shape is a square, so its super doable even for the first time quilter.

The video tutorial focuses on how to cut your fabric, nested seams, and chain piecing! Its a tad long but full of helpful info so you can build your skills even with this first block.

I am going to keep my fabrics the same throughout the whole quilt, so Fabric A - Canary, Fabric B - Summer Sun, Fabric C - Aero Blue, Fabric D - Grapefruit, Fabric E - Tender Green, and Fabric F - Snow White (background).

My top tips for cutting is always cut basing your measurements off of your ruler NOT your mat. I only cut off my mat if I do not have a ruler large enough for the job. Always start by using your ruler to cut a straight edge. Then base all of your other cuts off that first straight edge.

You will love this time saving hack if you don't already know it. Chain piecing is sewing fabric together and instead of cutting the thread between each piece you feed you next piece into your presser foot. This will leave a small section of thread between your pieces that you can snip later. This will save you a TON of thread plus makes some pretty garland in-between your pattern steps.

Onto tips for nested seams. Nested seams are such a useful skill to create crisp corners and angles as you match up your piecing while constructing blocks. Its simplest definition/explanation is pressing seams that will meet up in opposite directions so they can bump up against each other when you feed them through your machine.

This block amazes me how striking it is by just using squares! I hope you had a blast making it and found the video helpful.
