Striped Jewel Quilt - Tula Pink's Homemade
Im so thrilled to share this quilt with you finally because it has been trapped in my head since the beginning of the year.
I needed a big enough block to showcase Tula Pink’s Homemade fabric line.
Let’s talk about the fabric real quick. I’m amazed at how well she drew the tools we used to make our beautiful creations. Not only did she think of all the notions but she included our hands which are what cut, stitch, and guide each inch of the fabric through our machines. It really made me appreciate my hands on a whole new level. LOL The fabric is so stinking good its hard to chose a favorite honestly.
On to the quilt pattern and quilting. This is my Striped Jewel Quilt pattern. This pattern comes together so quickly! It offers such a chance for a bold, modern, and classic quilt. It’s perfect for a beginner too.
Next up is the quilting. I wanted to follow Tula’s lead and quilt with a bold color on top. I used Glide thread in Blossom (70214) on top and Sea Mist (60556) in the bobbin.
I quilted a contemporary design with straight lines, circles, and a modern feather. I used the “Slim” ruler and the “Chevy” ruler. You could use only the “Slim” if that’s what you have but I liked having the “Chevy” ruler to keep my lines at a right angle when I split up the block for the diagonal lines.
I had to split up my design in the main rectangle of the block because the throat space on my longarm is only 16” and my finished block length was 16.5”.
Im also so freaking excited to be offering this exact quilt in a precut quilt kit. Snag yourself a pre cut quilt top kit HERE.
